If you are trying to make life healing changes, you need to realize that everything in life is not always as simple as right or wrong, black or white, or even cut and dried. A fact of life is that there are gray areas, long processes that usher in life healing changes. I have come to appreciate the understanding that making life healing changes is a process that begins with a relationship with Jesus Christ. We simply cannot make life healing changes on our own. For example, if you are struggling with an addiction, whether it be drugs, alcohol, pornography, gambling, or shopping, you can’t just stop doing these things on your own by trying harder not to do them. If you could, you would have done it a long time ago. You wouldn’t have allowed it to cost you thousands of dollars, shame and embarrassment, loss of your family and friends or even loss of your freedom by having to go to jail. We need help to make these life healing changes.
In the Bible, it teaches us that “God is our refuge and our strength; a very present help in times of trouble.” (Psalm 46:1). Consequently, if God is willing to help us when we are in “times of trouble”, why not ask for His help? It is not God’s heart that His creation suffers needlessly. Why would you want to? If you are desiring to make life healing changes in your life, don’t do it alone. Ask God for His help. He loves you. His love is not based on whether or not you made all the right choices or did all the right things in life. You are never too sinful or dirty for Him to love you and help you.
You are His greatest creation. He is not mad at you for choosing others things over Him. However, when you come to Him just as you are in your brokenness, and He looks at you, it makes His heart smile. Why? Because He doesn’t see you in your sinful nature, He sees His son, who has covered you by His blood. Go ahead, don’t be afraid, takes God’s hand, give Him your heart and let Him help you make those life healing changes.
